Confucius Institute at SEGi University 2016 Board Meeting in Hainan

The Confucius Institute at SEGi University organised its 2nd Board Meeting at the South Longkun campus at Hainan Normal University. Mr. Lin Qiang (President, Hainan Normal University), Mr. Li Sen (Vice President, Hainan Normal University) and Professor Dr. Patrick Kee Peng Kong (Vice Chancellor, SEGi University) as well as other council members attended the meeting.

Mr. Lin Qiang introduced the council members to the operations of the teacher training base run by Hanban in Hainan Normal University. Next, Professor Dr. Patrick Kee reported on the work and financial expenditure of the Confucius Institute at SEGi University for the year 2016. Subsequently, Mr. Chen Ming Hui (Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at SEGi University) reported the current working conditions of the Confucius Institute and summarised the teaching activities, cultural activities, personnel involved, and the trainings conducted as well as the Hainan Bridge Autumn Camp which was sponsored by the Chinese Embassy.

Mr. Lin Qiang and Mr. Li Sen whole heartedly supported the work of the Confucius Institute in 2016 and continue to provide guidance over some of the activities and projects that will be carried out in 2017. Mr. Lin Qiang expressed that the Hainan Normal University will continue to give their full support for the construction and development of the Confucius Institute. He hoped that the Confucius Institute will not only serve as a platform for Chinese teaching and cultural display, but also become a platform for inter-university co-operation and exchanges which will promote a high-level of co-operation amongst the two universities.

The council members affirmed the efforts of the Confucius Institute at SEGi University for the self-financing operations and hoped that Confucius Institute at SEGi University would achieve better results in 2017 under the joint efforts from the two universities.
